Eleanor Britter
Thank you Thank you all for coming here tonight to show support for my campaign for 2nd Vice District Governor of District 4-C4. WOW!!! Exciting!!! for me and for all of you.
Why does anyone run for Governor? Well, my 2 cents, I believe a time might come where you will see clearly the needs of the District and at the same time you will see a way you can contribute to meet those needs. Especially when it comes to assisting our club in their ability to serve their communities.
I am at that point and I came to it in sort of a backward kind of way. “Your Club your Way” is very important to me. Being there for you means, getting out of the way and responding only when called upon. At the same time, you pay dues to keep the district, Multiple, and LCI on our Lions path. What is that path and what does it do for us? Well, they help fund us through LCIF, they insure our events, 2M big ones, promote our efforts and new projects, supply us with awards, hold conventions, give our clubs a website, make sure we get ongoing leadership training. Most of all they work hard at providing us with structure so we are able to receive all these gifts.
Nonetheless, and because LCI’s structure is somewhat complex there are beneficial things they provide that are hidden from our view. Together we will unearth these things that will help streamline your service projects, so you don’t burn out.
Your clubs have always provided amazing services to your communities, and I am proud and grateful that you have included me to work by your side. In whatever way, I can I want to serve, and as DG Dr, Jun would say we are servant leaders, not ordinary volunteers.
We all serve for the same reason you see our heart sends joyful messages to our brain when we are actively serving our fellow man and our whole body is then refreshed. Our blood pressure stabilizes our heart claps our circulation and digestion regulates and we are happy campers. Not to mention that we see the huge results of our service right on the spot and we know that will be a lasting thing for the recipients.
I truly love and pray for all of you each day and want to continue to serve you. My brochure will tell you all about who I am and some of what I have done. If you have any questions, feel free to approach me and have a chat.
Thank you all for your support and I hope you enjoyed the delicious meal provided by Gary Mingle and his favorite chef.
Some housekeeping items:
I need and want your vote. I am not running unopposed, and he has lots of support and is a worthy candidate as I am. I do have lots of time in Lions and lots of experience.
I will have buses for those who need a ride to the convention. You will receive a packet of information about the convention and voting after the council meeting next Saturday. Please register for the cabinet meeting as soon as possible. You will need to choose delegates for your club in order to vote. The deadline for that will be in April. Check your packet for the exact date. You are entitled to 1 delegate for every ten members in your club. So, if you have 20 members you will get two delegates and you may select two alternates in case your delegates are MIA. When you get to the convention on Friday morning you must register before noon to qualify to vote. Voting will be on Saturday morning.
On Friday there will be a luncheon and after lunch, each candidate will ask their supporters to dance around the room in a circle to music holding a sign with your choice of candidate.
This means you need to register to sleep over one night at the hotel in Redding. Perhaps your club will help you pay for a room. You will also be able to enjoy the food court on Friday and we can form a parade. What fun.
We will help you fill out all the forms if you need us. We will schedule a meeting at the beginning of April to help anyone fill out the forms, register for the hotel and the bus for transport.
